رستم و رخش به بیابانی داغ رسیدند.

Rostam o Rakhsh be beeâbânee dâgh reseedand.

Rostam and Rakhsh came to a burning desert.

خورشید مثل آتش می‌تابید.

Khorsheed mesl-e âtesh meetâbeed.

The sun blazed like fire.

رستم تشنه شد.

Rostam teshne shod.

Rostam grew thirsty.

رخش هم نفس‌نفس می‌زد.

Rakhsh ham nafas-nafas meezad.

Rakhsh was panting hard.

هیچ درختی نبود، هیچ سایه‌ای نبود.

Heech derakhtee nabud, heech sâye-ee nabud.

There was no tree, no shade.

رستم گفت: «اگر آب پیدا نکنیم، می‌میریم.»

Rostam goft: «Agar âb peydâ nakoneem, meemeereem.»

Rostam said: "If we don't find water, we will die."

او دعا کرد.

Oo doâ kard.

He prayed.

از تشنگی روی زمین افتاد.

Az teshnegee roo-ye zameen oftâd.

From thirst he collapsed onto the ground.

یک گاومیش دید.

Yek gâvmeesh deed.

He saw a water buffalo.

با خودش گفت که گاومیش جایی هست که آب باشد.

Bâ khodash goft ke gâvmeesh jâ-yee hast ke âb bâshad.

He said to himself, "A buffalo is somewhere there is water."

پس او را دنبال کرد.

Pas oo râ donbâl kard.

So he followed it.

صدای آب شنید.

Sedâ-ye âb sheneed.

He heard the sound of water.

چشمه‌ای کوچک پیدا شد.

Cheshme-ee koochak peydâ shod.

A small spring appeared.

رستم و رخش آب خوردند تا جان گرفتند.

Rostam o Rakhsh âb khordand tâ jân gereftand.

Rostam and Rakhsh drank water until they were revived.
